The public launch of the European Jews for Palestine network is taking place in Brussels (Belgium) on Thursday 3 October 2024.

The newly formed European Jewish network, European Jews for Palestine (EJP) - Juif Européenes pour la Palestine, is launching at the European Parliament in Brussels on Thursday.

The launch event will feature speakers from members of the new collective, which includes Luxembourg-based non-profit organisation Jewish Call for Peace (JCP), as well as MEPs and leaders of European anti-racist organisations and representatives of Palestinians.

This meeting coincides with the Jewish New Year (Rosh Hashanah). "We mark this important moment in the Jewish calendar with a message of solidarity with the Palestinian people and a call to end the genocide in Gaza and Israel’s war crimes," noted Gabi Kaplan, co-founder of the network and EJP spokesperson.

EJP is a collective of over 20 Jewish groups from fourteen European countries. These like-minded organisations first met in March 2023 in Paris and officially established their European organisation in September 2024. The event at the European Parliament on 3 October marks the network's first public appearance.

In its mission statement, EJP said it rejects "the Zionist state's ideology of Jewish supremacy" and denounces "the cynical conflation of anti-Zionism with anti-Semitism". The network added that it advocates the "decoupling of Judaism from the colonial doctrine of Zionism" and is committed to promoting "equal rights for all in historic Palestine, from the river to the sea".

"Our Judaism rhymes with solidarity," added Jewish Call for Peace (Luxembourg), member of the EJP Coordination Team.
