Various Luxembourg government ministries have announced that a delegation of Cape Verdean ministers will visit the Grand Duchy on Friday 15 March 2024.
The 23rd Partnership Commission between Luxembourg and Cape Verde will take place on Friday. This is an annual meeting allowing both parties to take stock of the state of development cooperation relations and the progress of projects within the framework of the current "Development-Climate-Energy" indicative cooperation programme (2021-2025).
On this occasion, a delegation composed of three Cape Verdean ministers - the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and Regional Integration, Rui Figueiredo Soares, the Minister of Agriculture and Environment, Gilberto Silva, and the Minister of Industry, Commerce and Energy, Alexandre Monteiro - will travel to Luxembourg.
Representing the Grand Duchy at this annual meeting are Xavier Bettel, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Affairs, and Serge Wilmes, Minister of the Environment, Climate and Biodiversity.
On the sidelines of the 23rd Partnership Commission, co-chaired by the Cooperation Ministers of both countries, a new memorandum of understanding on statistical cooperation will be signed.
For his part, Minister Rui Alberto Figueiredo Soares will be received by Luxembourg's Prime Minister Luc Frieden for an interview at the Ministry of State. The discussions are set to focus in particular on bilateral relations as well as the international political situation and the Cape Verdean diaspora in Luxembourg. Minister Alexandre Monteiro, for his part, will have an interview with his Luxembourg counterpart, Lex Delles, Minister of Economy, SMEs, Energy and Tourism, to take stock of cooperation between the two countries in terms of renewable energy.
Furthermore, Rui Alberto Figueiredo Soares, Gilberto Silva and Alexandre Monteiro will be welcomed by the President of the Chamber of Deputies (Luxembourg's parliament), Claude Wiseler, and will meet members of the parliamentary office and the committee on foreign and European affairs, cooperation, foreign trade and the Greater Region.
