Luxembourg's Minister of Foreign and European Affairs, Jean Asselborn, participated in the fourth ministerial conference of the Moldova Support Platform, which took place in Chișinău on Tuesday 17 October 2023.

Co-chaired by Germany, France and Romania, this meeting was held under the aegis of the President of Moldova, Maia Sandu, with the aim of strengthening the international coordination of efforts in support of Moldova in the context of Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine.

Minister Asselborn welcomed the path of "profound transformation" on which Moldova has embarked as a European Union candidate country. However, he recalled the multiple challenges facing Moldova, challenges linked to security, reforms, energy and migratory flows, which have become even more pressing due to Russian aggression against Ukraine. The minister also emphasised Luxembourg's continued support for Moldova in the implementation of its reforms. It is within this framework that Luxembourg financially supports the Council of Europe Action Plan for the Republic of Moldova, and will continue to provide technical assistance to Moldova's banking sector.
