From Monday 10 to Thursday 13 October 2022, His Royal Highness the Hereditary Grand Duke is presiding over a working visit to Morocco, led by Luxembourg's Minister of the Economy, Franz Fayot, and the aim of which is to strengthen economic ties between the two countries.

A business delegation made up of around 30 people, including representatives of Luxembourgish companies active in ICT and construction in Morocco, is also present. During the stay, several official meetings with members of the Moroccan government and an employers' organisation are scheduled, as well as visits to the sites of two major construction projects in which Luxembourgish companies are involved.

The trip is a continuation of the economic mission to Morocco in September 2019 and also marks the first visit of Luxembourg's Minister of the Economy to Morocco following the opening of the Luxembourg Trade and Investment Office (LTIO) in Casablanca in October 2020. Due to the health restrictions in force at the time, the inauguration event and launch of the LTIO's activities had to be organised remotely, in the form of an inaugural webinar. The current trip also follows the working visit to Morocco by Luxembourg's Minister of Foreign and European Affairs, Jean Asselborn, on 3 and 4 October 2022.

According to Luxembourg's Ministry of the Economy, Morocco acts as a regional hub for developing activities in the Maghreb region and more broadly, throughout the African continent. The visit also aims to explore the possibilities of creating a triangular Luxembourg-Morocco-Africa economic cooperation, based on Moroccan expertise on the African continent, through the search for new collaborations and potential synergies.
