On Thursday 14 April 2022, François Bausch, Luxembourg's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence, had an interview by videoconference with his Ukrainian counterpart, Oleksii Reznikov.
The two defence ministers discussed the extremely serious situation and human suffering in Ukraine.
Oleksii Reznikov, Ukraine's Minister of Defence, highlighted his country's continued need for military support in order to face Russian aggression and thanked Minister Bausch for the substantial lethal and non-lethal support Luxembourg has provided to date.
Minister Bausch confirmed Luxembourg's desire to continue to support Ukraine and informed his counterpart that the Directorate of Defence is currently studying avenues for possible additional support. "The invasion of Ukraine is the most serious breach of the European security order in decades. Solidarity, freedom and democracy are inalienable values for Luxembourg. It is obvious for Luxembourg to support Ukraine in the defence of its territorial integrity against the Russian invasion", stated Luxembourg's Defence Minister.
