On Thursday 3 March 2022, Luxembourg-headquartered steel manufacturer ArcelorMittal has announced that it has halted its steelmaking operations in Kryvyi Rih, Ukraine.
The decision was taken to ensure the safety and security of employees and assets.
The company reported that it had previously reduced the plant operations to a technical minimum at approximately one-third of its normal production levels.
The process to idle all blast furnaces has started on 3 March and the complete process will take between seven and ten days.
ArcelorMittal will continue evaluating the situation on a daily basis.
