Dominican-Luxembourgish opera singer Stephany Ortega has announced that she is giving her next performance in Wuhan in China this Friday 30 April 2021.
A dual national of the Dominican Republic and Luxembourg, Stephany Ortega is a coloratura soprano, a pianist and a choir conductor. Her eclectic repertoire ranges from baroque to contemporary music, performing opera, Lied, oratorio, musical theatre and world music. She has performed across China, Europe, the United States and the Caribbean, notably at Carnegie Hall in New York, the Philharmonie Luxembourg, El Ateneo in Madrid and the Théâtre Royal de la Monnaie in Brussels.
Stephany Ortega has received various awards, such as the Silver Prize of the Manhattan International Music Competition in New York, a nomination for the International Classical Music Awards for her second album "American Soul", the Prix Servais awarded by Belgium's Ministry of Culture, the Prix Vindelinck and Prix Lerminiaux awarded by the Royal Conservatory of Brussels and two nominations as “Artist who stands out abroad” in the Soberano Awards, as well as two other nominations for the Oscar de la Renta Dominican Emigrant Award.
Her upcoming performance in the Chinese city of Wuhan consists of opera and contemporary dance, with the Chinese choreographer and dancer Ning Xi, with whom she already presented this performance during the Zhuhai International Design Week last December. The performance will be presented as part of the opening of the Wuhan K11 Art Mall, a hybrid between a museum and a shopping centre, the first in the world of its kind, with branches in Shanghai, Hong Kong and Guangzhou, among other cities.
