On 12 October 2016, Their Royal Highnesses the Hereditary Grand Duke and Hereditary Grand Duchess of Luxembourg visited the “Artisans of Peace Exhibition” in France in commemoration of the centenary of the Battle of Verdun (France) during World War I.

Their Royal Highnesses paid homage to volunteers who helped during the Battle of Verdun on its 100 year anniversary with an official visit to Verdun yesterday. During the royal visit, the Hereditary Grand Duke and Grand Duchess were accompanied by Luxembourgish students from the Lycée Aline Mayrisch and UNESCO’s Nordstadt. The students benefitted from an educational day focusing on the study of the First World War and the crisis in Ukraine.

France 3 Lorraine journalist, Laurent Parisot, and the Russian CEI (Central European Initiative) Strategic and Security Affairs Advisor at the heart of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Development Cabinet, Alexandre Escorcia, ended the day with a conference. His Royal Highness the Hereditary Grand Duke also delivered a speech during this closing conference.
