Luxembourg's Minister of Sustainable Development and Infrastructure, Francois Bausch, and the Secretary of State at the same ministry, Camille Gira, will visit China from tomorrow, Tuesday 5 January to Thursday 7 January 2016.
The visit has been organised in order for them to attend different meetings with politicians and economic players in both Beijing and in Zhengzhou, capital of the central Henan Province.
On Tuesday in Beijing, Minister Bausch and Secretary of State Gira are due to meet the Secretary General of the Civil Aviation Administration of China and the Vice Minister of Transport, Feng Zhenglin, to discuss aviation issues, including additional air rights regarding Cargolux.
On Wednesday, in Zhengzhou, they will attend a meeting with the Governor of Henan Province, Xie Fuzhan, about economic development opportunities between Luxembourg and Henan. The highlight of the day will be the signing of a memorandum of understanding between Chemins de Fer Luxembourgeois (CFL) and Zhengzhou International Hub Development and Construction Co. Ltd. (ZIH). The agreement provides for the possibility of setting up a rail link between Zhengzhou in China and Bettembourg in Luxembourg.
On Thursday, Minister Bausch and Secretary of State Gira are to meet with the secretary general of the Communist Party of Henan Province, Guo Gengmao, who visited the multimodal platform in Bettembourg in June 2015 at the invitation of Minister Bausch. The meeting will focus on intensified cooperation in transportation and logistics from the province of Henan and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg.
In the afternoon, the Minister and the Secretary of State will visit the expansion project of the Zhengzhou airport, Cargo Marshalling station and the company ZIH.
The Luxembourg delegation will be composed not only of representatives of the Ministry of Sustainable Development and Infrastructure, but also responsible for the CFL and CFL Multimodal (MM), who will present the possibilities to Chinese decision makers and opportunities of the new logistics hub in Bettembourg.
Henan Province is located in China's centre and has a population of over 100 million people with an area greater than 167,000 km2. Zhengzhou is a city of over 8 million inhabitants and the capital of Henan Province and was designated in March 2013 by the central government in Beijing as the first experimental economic zone in terms of airport economy.
