As part of the 'Angola-EU Joint Way Forward' cooperation agreement, Luxembourg Minister of Foreign and European Affairs, Jean Asselborn, was in Luanda on Thursday 19 November 2015 to participate in the second ministerial meeting of political dialogue between the two regions.

Minister Asselborn attended the meeting on behalf of High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Federica Mogherini, to discuss the relationship between Angola and the EU. To this end, ministers present spoke of deepening the political dialogue and bilateral cooperation in areas of shared interest between the two.

Discussions with the Angolan authorities focused on several areas, including peace and security, economic growth and sustainable development, good governance and human rights, energy, transport, the environment, science and technology and education.

The ministerial meeting also enable those present to look in depth at current regional issues and address, in particular, the situation in the Great Lakes region, the Kimberley Process and maritime security issues.
