For only the second time in history, the second Global High-Level Conference on Road Safety will take place on 18 and 19 November 2015, assembling government ministers and key decision-makers from nearly every country in the world to tackle the topic of road safety.
The Conference has been organised by the Brazilian Government with support from the World Health Organisation (WHO) and will be taking place in Brasília. The event will aim to rpomote the exchange of knowledge and effective measures in the prevention of road tragedies with a view to improving road safety for all users. Around 1,500 delegates are expected, including Ministers in charge of Health, Transport and the Interior, senior officials from UN agencies; representatives of civil society and business leaders. At the end, a declaration will be signed by all the policymakers present.
Participants will review progress in the Decade of Action for Road Safety 2011-2020, as well as define the next steps to be taken at both national and global levels in order to achieve the goal of saving 5 million lives.
Luxembourg Minister of Sustainable Development and Infrastructure, François Bausch, will be present at the Conference, on the sidelines of which he will participate in a seminar entitled 'Halving Road Deaths by 2020: Safe Systems & the Journey Towards Zero', organised by the Global NCAP. Minister Bausch will also take part in a Post Crash response session organised by the Post Crash Committee of the Global Alliance of NGOs for Road Safety & Road Victims.
