On a visit to Columbia yesterday, Luxembourg Minister of Finance Pierre Gramegna met with his Colombian counterpart, Mauricio Cárdenas in Bogotá to dicuss the economic and financial situation in Europe and South America.
The bilateral meeting also focused on the refugee crisis concerning Syria and Iraq, as well as the evolution of commodity prices and the implications for the global economy. An additional topic of discussion was tax transparency following the transposition of the BEPS Project of the OECD, in the spirit of the creation of a global 'level playing field'. The two Foreign Ministers then agreed to examine the advisability of concluding an agreement of souble taxation between Luxembourg and Colombia.Minister Gramegna also presented the opening speech of the seminar organised in collaboration between the Chambre de Commerce and the Association Luxembourgeoise des Fonds d'Investissement (ALFI) dedicated to investment funds, logistics and Information and Communications Technology (ICT) as part of the Chambre de Commerce's economic mission in Mexico and Columbia.
