Farvest, the Luxembourg B2B event and marketing agency, is organising the next event dedicated to the IT sector, Game of Code, from 9 to 11 October 2020 in an online format.

The hackathon is back in Luxembourg... with a twist. Due to the current health situation, the organisers have turned the 2020 edition into a 100% online competition, with a 36-hour coding sprint. Over the weekend, participating teams of coders will do their best to solve the three challenges concocted by the event's partners.

During these 36 hours, participants will express their creativity, answering to the unique challenges created by the long-term partners of Game of Code, namely Digital Luxembourg and Docler Holding, joined this year by LUXHUB.

Before even starting to code, participants are invited to attend a series of presentations and introductions to the challenges, moderated by the recruitment company, HUXLEY, who will welcome the coders. Kamel Amroune, CEO of Farvest, will open the new edition of the Luxembourgish hackathon, before Patrick Weber from the Ministry of Digitalisation takes the virtual stage for an official speech.

Dealing with the topic of "Open Data", Digital Luxembourg will have the participants reflect on the challenge to "Make digital an opportunity for everyone"; in other words enabling "inclusion through digital".

"The Challenge teams are expected to create new apps, services and visualisations that make use of data from the Open Data Portal to improve the social cohesion of our digital society, as for example in matters of mobility, healthcare, education or daily life habits. These new applications or tools should provide inclusive and accessible services to people that may be defined as digitally disadvantaged. This digital vulnerability can be linked to access, skills, motivation or trust," explained the creators of the challenge.

"2020 - The beginning of a new decade but also a challenging year for humanity" is the introductory statement of the challenge proposed by Docler Holding, inviting participants to "Hack the Future". As highlighted by the international tech company, "in unprecedented times, technology can play a role to save lives, support communities, foster education and protect businesses. For this special Game of Code edition, we challenge you to create an app or web solution capable of addressing any of the current issues arising from the worldwide health crisis. We invite you to create a bold and unique idea that strives to save lives, communities, education or businesses".

Finally, LUXHUB will challenge the coders by asking them to create a new open baking app. By providing access to the testing environment of LUXHUB ONE, the company's account aggregation and payment initiation solution, participants will attempt to ideate and implement a new integrated product based on real Open Banking use cases, such as personal financial management, treasury management optimisation and next level payment solutions.

After the 36 hours of coding, on Sunday morning, the teams will enjoy some rest before pitching their innovative solution to a jury of seasoned professionals, who will pick the winning team of each challenge.
