Details: The Institute for Global Financial Integrity has announced that David Clark, Director and Chairman of the Executive Committee of The Institute for Global Financial Integrity, will speak on “LIBOR: My part in its downfall” at the Twenty-seventh Luxembourg Monthly Finance Lunch on Thursday 21 March 2013 at the Cercle Munster.
David Clark is an advisor on international capital markets matters. His clients have included the International Capital Market Association, The European Central Bank and The Asian Development Bank as well as private institutions.
He was previously Head of Funding at the European Investment Bank (EIB) where he worked from 1997 to 2007. He developed the EIB’s ground-breaking sterling issuance programme to a position where EIB became the largest issuer in the non-gilt sterling market accounting for close to 10% of such issuance. He also helped the EIB develop new capital markets in Central and Eastern Europe as well as the Mediterranean region and in Africa.
Prior to joining EIB he worked for 24 years in emerging market lending, trade finance, commodities, project and export finance as well as fixed income and derivative markets located in London, Cairo, New York and Stockholm. He was a pioneer in the interest rate swaps market during the 1980’s. He started his career with Lloyds Bank International as an economist specialising on the Far East and Australasia. More recently he worked with Svenska Handelsbanken where he was Head of Fixed Income and Deputy General Manager of the London Branch and subsequently Deputy Head of Global Fixed Income. He was a Deputy Managing Director at Nomura International plc.
David holds an MA from Oxford University where he read Politics, Philosophy and Economics at Brasenose College. He is Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Institute for Global Financial Integrity and Chairman of the Oxford University Society in Luxembourg. Drinks are served starting at 11:30 h.
