The Hwa Rang Do Club Luxembourg, a traditional Korean Martial Art based in Luxembourg city, has reported that Luxembourg secured a fourth World Team Title during the Hwa Rang Do Grand Championships 2025, on Monday 30th June 2025.
The competition, which took place at the National Martial Arts Hall in Strassen, was attended by His Royal Highness Prince Louis of Luxembourg and marked the 65th anniversary of the establishment of the Hwa Rang Do Association.
Luxembourg’s representatives in the competition have won the last three World Team titles and in this year’s competition they fought against a team from Genova, Italy. Each team consisted of five members - four men and one woman - and had to win two out of the three categories to secure the title.
In the first category – Yongtoogi: Fight for Courage - Luxembourg secured the win with three wins to two losses. In the second category - Gotoogi: Fight to the End - Luxembourg lost significantly as their Italian opponents secured a 0-5 win. However, in the final category - Mugi Daeryun with Sticks and Swords - the teams were tied at two wins apiece before Szymon Mirocha of the Luxembourg National Team won the decisive point.
What is Hwa Rang Do?
Hwa Rang Do, which means "The Way of the Flowering Knights”, is a multi-faceted, integral discipline with a holistic approach to help its participants develop and cultivate their inner balance, giving the opportunity to fully maximise their own human mental, physical, emotional and spiritual potential. Founded in 1960, its roots lie in the inspiration of Hwarang warrior tradition from 6th-century Korea.
