Details: On Friday 22 July 2016 the Ville de Luxembourg and the Cinémathèque will be screening "Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope" (1977) at the Parvis du Palais Grand Ducal at 21:30 as part of the summer open-air cinema screenings programme.
As in previous years, the Ville de Luxembourg and the Cinémathèque are organising a series of open-air cinema screenings in the capital during July and August 2016; this year three venues are included in the programme with the Rotondes in Luxembourg-Bonnevoie included for the first time this year in addition to outside the royal palace and Cour des Capucins.
The screenings are sponsored by Orange Luxembourg with the support of Utopia S.A. The programme includes classics (Star Wars, Tarzan the Ape Man, The Jungle Book), contemporary films (Beasts of the Southern Wild, Hail Caesar!), and cult films (Grease, Mad Max).
Spectators will also be able to enjoy drinks and snacks on site thanks to a collaboration with the Chocolate House and Café des Capuchins. In case of inclement weather, screenings will continue, with the Cinémathèque providing the public with an "Open Air Survival Kit" consisting of a cape and a moisture-proof cushion.
All sessions are free and open to the public (palace capacity 500+) and accessible to persons with reduced mobility. All screenings start at 21:30 (22:00 @ Rotondes) and entry is free-of-charge.
