PROGRAMME
- Fri 1 July @ 20:45: Cinderella (Cendrillon), ballet in 3 acts, performed by The Moscow City Ballet: CAT 1: €60 (students €47); CAT 2: €51 (€40); CAT 3: €33 (€26); U12s free(prices excl. postage)
The Moscow City Ballet is back again for another night of classic entertainment. Founded by the former Bolshoi Ballet soloist and choreographer Victor Smirnov-Golovanov, The Moscow City Ballet is considered to be Russia's most successful touring company. An adaptation of Charles Perrault's fairy tale, putting Cinderella beneath the spotlight. A young woman is victimised by a morbid family, and her only wish is to escape the oppressive world in which she lives. Cinderella's Fairy Godmother and the Fairies of the Four Seasons help her overcome her mean-spirited step sisters and find her Prince. With an array of striking and detailed costumes and set designs with accompanying music composed by Serge Prokofiev, this show is sure to be a night to remember.
- Sat 2 July @ 20:45: Swan Lake (which replaces the previously-announced Giselle), ballet in 2 acts, performed by The Moscow City Ballet: €60 (€47); €51 (€40); €33 (€26); U12s free (prices excl. postage)
The Moscow City Ballet is at its outstanding artistic best. Brimming with some of Russia’s best young dancers, outstanding principals, stunning soloists and a sublime corps de ballet. Stand-out performances by the Moscow City Ballet dancers never fail to add that magical ingredient of Russian soul. Swan Lake is a long dream of Prince Siegfried. He refuses the reality of power and marriage imposed on him by his tutor and his mother. An idealised love is born in his head with the forbidden it represents. The white swan is the untouchable woman, the black swan is the mirror image. So when the dream fades, the prince can not survive. A psychoanalytic and introspective vision of the work as in the treatment of the story in the development of the characters. The work gains additional complexity in a subtle play of mirror identities.
- Wed 6 July @ 20:45: Jazz Prestige (La Nuit du Jazz), performed by (1) Reis / Demuth / Wiltgen Luxembourgish trio; (2) Sinne Eeg Quartet: €38 (€20); €29 (€22); €20 (€15); U12s free (prices excl. postage)

The trio reunited in 2011 eager to share their experiences and new compositions. Their self-titled first album was released on Laborie Jazz to widespread critical acclaim. Since the release, the band has toured extensively throughout the world and has appeared at major international jazz festivals in Europe and Asia. The band has recorded its sophomore album in New York City, which is scheduled to be released in the spring of 2016.
Sinne Eeg (born in 1977) is a Danish jazz vocalist and composer. She has received a number of highly positive reviews in the national and international press and is considered a major talent; amongst the best female jazz vocalists on the Scandinavian scene. She has composed many songs of her own. The clarity of her very natural tone, gives her that distinction; couple this to a near perfect intonation and the fact that she and the genre that is jazz are well met. Sinne Eeg has won the Danish Music Awards prize in the category Best Danish Vocal Jazz Album of the Year, 2014 and 2015 her two last albums “Don’t Be So Blue” and “Face the Music”. She also received the acclaimed Ben Webster Prize on 28 March 2014, as the first vocalist ever. This rich theatrical tapestry is woven of illicit love, a fortune-teller, a masked ball, and as many vows of vengeance as can be packed into three hours. Verdi's much-loved work is Italian opera at its very best, with thrilling arias, glorious choral music, and the dramatic intensity that only great opera can provide.

- Fri 22 & Sat 23 July @ 20:45: Chicago (the Broadway Musical), a production by the Brno City Theatre of the Czech Republic (performed in English): €69 (€54); €60 (€47); €42 (€33); U12s free (prices excl. postage)
"Chicago" is the longest-running American Musical in Broadway history. No wonder, the musical has been honoured with six Tony Awards, 2 Olivier Awards, a Grammy and thousands of standing ovations. A true new York City institution, "Chicago" has everything that makes Broadway great: a universal tale of fame, fortune and all that jazz; one show-stopping song after another, and the most astonishing dancing you’ve ever seen. It’s also no surprise that "Chicago" has wowed audiences all around the world, from Mexico City to Moscow, from Sao Paulo to South Africa. Set in the legendary city during the roaring “jazz hot” 20s, Chicago tells the story of two rival vaudevillian murderesses locked up in Cook County Jail. Nightclub star Velma’s serving time for killing her husband and sister after finding the two in bed together. Driven chorus girl Roxie’s been tossed in the joint for bumping off the lover with whom she’s been cheating on her husband. Not one to rest on her laurels, Velma enlists the help of prison matron Mama Morton and slickster lawyer Billy Flynn, who turn Velma’s incarceration into a murder-of-the-week media frenzy, thus preparing the world for a splashy showbiz comeback. But Roxie’s got some of her own tricks up her sleeve…
