OPL, Christian Vásquez and Lim Ji Young feature on the programme at the 40th Christmas Gala of SOS Villages d'Enfants Monde, taking place on Thursday 10 December 2015 in the Grand Auditorium of the Philharmonie.
For the occasion, the female choir of INECC will be performing under the direction of Venezuelan conductor Christian Vásquez, who trained under José Antonio Abreu, founder of the famous EL Sistema music programme for disadvantaged people.
A violin virtuoso and music director of the Stavanger Symphony Orchestra, Christian Vásquez will be conducting two groups from the programme at the Philharmonie, namely the Simón Bolívar Youth Orchestra of Venezuela and the Teresa Carreño Youth Orchestra of Venezuela.
Soloist for the evening will arrive in the form of young South Korean violonist Ji Young Lim. Ji Young Lim trained in her home country and was a student at the Korea National University of Arts before joining the Carmel Symphony Orchestra in Indianapolis in 2015. Having won many awards, she this year received the first prize at the prestigious Queeen Elisabeth Competition.
The programme for the evening will feature the romantic Concerto for violin and orchestra in E minor, opus 64 by Felis Mendelssohn and an interstellar and mythological adventure in the form of The Plants by Gustav Holst, an orchestral suite in seven movements.
All proceeds from this charity concert, supported by EY, will be donated to the Nepal project of SOS Villages d'Enfants Monde, through which the association has been able to support 8,000 people across 12 districts through 100,000 services offered, including 25 reception centres for 2,000 children.
The organisation's rehabilitation programme is engaged in various actions, including taking care of children separated from their parents, education, strengthening livelihoods, construction of housing and community school rehabilitation.
