On Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 September 2015, the Ville de Dudelange will be hosting the 14th edition of its Butschebuerger Buergfest medieval festival.
More than 90 merchants and artisans, ten troops of musicians and other entertainers and a large knight encampment will be present at the authentic medieval village to transport visitors back through history to another time.
Organised by the Ville de Dudelange, along with the neighbourhood association Interesse Veräin Quartier Butschebuerg, the fair marks the largest medieval festival in the Greater Region.Visitors can peruse the medieval market jewellery and authentic clothing on display, as well as the art objects, arms and stone sculpture decorations, before finding out for themselves how the items are made by watching the thirty craftsmen at work. They may also partake of the world spices in cheeses and smoked fish, before participating in the variety of activities available.
The arts and craft market this year will be accompanied by a wide range of entertainment, including archery, a jousting tournament and a medieval carousal, as well as a story-teller, magician and acrobats to keep both young and old in high spirits. The Saturday will draw to a close with a big night show, beginning from 19:00, which will exhibit a knight's tournament, a fire display and a torch-lit procession accompanied by artists, musicians, jugglers and bards.
The festival will be open from 11:00-23:00 on the Saturday and 10:00-19:00 on the Sunday. Entrance for adults is €8, whilst young people and those dressed in period clothing will receive a reduction in ticket price, paying only €5.
The fair also offers free entrance for children up to the age of 12, as well as special prices for two-day tickets and groups from 10 people.
