Details: “Fairy Tails” celebrates its first birthday on 26 September 2015! It all started with the one-off party “From Russia with Love” that sparked a new trend: “celebrating live” parties or the urbane and the unconventional.
From LGBT to hipsters and curious stray tourists, everyone has found their own adventure in this extravaganza. The next party will be held at Melusina, one of the Grand Duchy’s most mythical disco venues. Over two floors and a terrace, the resident DJs, male gogo dancers and the greatest drag queens from the Greater Region will come together to make the magic happen once again. They will also have a special guest star: the burlesque performer Miss Lily Raven.
This time the theme of the party is “House of Boys”, the award winning Luxembourgish film directed by Jean-Claude Schlim. This fantastic depiction of gay life in the 80s takes one to a Cabaret of boys in Amsterdam and tells a tale of love and AIDS.
Nowadays the LGBT community has started to take a more relaxed attitude to AIDS, with many people relying on the new medicines to keep the disease under control or deciding to cope by keeping their condition under wraps. Sadly, this has meant the return of unsafe sexual practices – yet awareness has never been so crucial. That is why “Fairy Tails” has decided to create a privileged space where guests won’t just have a better view of the show; they’ll also be helping to support the associations “Stop Aids now” and “Paticka”.
“The struggle against Aids has become in a way my survivor’s duty. With my movie “House of Boys”, I tried to make an homage to the desperate years of the epidemic. Now, I want to keep up my engagement on many levels: prevention, promotion of regular testing, treatment, creating continuous awareness in the LGBT community, fighting serophobia, providing care and assistance to people living with HIV.
