Details: Trade in Services Agreement (TISA) - Challenges and opportunities for Luxembourg and Europe

An event is taking part on Monday 20 April 2015 at 12:15 at the Restaurant La Table du Belvédère (4 Place de l'Europe, Luxembourg-Kirchberg) during which a complimentary lunch will be served, addressing the issue of the Trade in Services Agreement (TISA) between the EU and the USA.

The European Union and 23 other members of the World Trade Organisation are currently negotiating the Trade in Services Agreement, which is politically and economically the most important treaty in the history of EU trade policy. These negotiations will open up markets and improve international rules in, amongst others, financial services, telecommunications, e-commerce and transport.

While the EU Member States have recently published the negotiating mandate they gave to the European Commission, the European Parliament is in favour of clear guidelines. What are our interests in TISA? Which principles have to be respected? How can services of general interest and data protection be guaranteed?

Come and discuss these and other questions with other stakeholders and the European Parliament's lead member on this issue Viviane Reding, as well as Amcham's Paul Schonenberg.
