Details: Luxembourg's National Museum of History and Art has announced a second "Renc'Art" event in which they educate the public on national collections, complementing traditional and regular visits.

Every month "Renc'Art" aims to explore a specific work: beyond a detailed analysis of the art object, this spotlight is always to create a new look at art collections and, thus, to stimulate their reception. These meetings are being held twice a month, in French and German, on Thursday evenings (free admission).

The August Renc'Art will focus on the marble sculpture entitled Paolo et Francesca da Rimini, a work by Antonio Canova (1757-1822), one of the major representatives of the neo-classical sculpture.

Who is Antonio Canova? What is the tragic story of two lovers? Why is this topic frequently depicted in art history? How did this piece land in the collections of MNHA? What place does this sculpture occupy in the new permanent exhibition of ancient art under the title "Collections / Revelations"? These are questions that will be answered by two art historians, Nathalie Becker (FR) And Martina Przybilla (DE) this month:

- Thursday 21 August @ 19:00 (DE/LU)

- Thursday 28 August @ 19:00 (EN/FR)

Access to the museum is free during these evenings.
