Details:  The Bibliothèque Nationale de Luxembourg (Luxembourg National Library) is organising a conference to be held on Monday 21 October from 19:00 - 21:00 at the Fondation Pescatore, Salle Cité (13 avenue Jean-Pierre Pescatore, L-2324 Luxembourg).

The conference will be about the life and times of Beckerelli - a magician who was born in Cologne in 1860 and spent much of his working life in Luxembourg, where he was named Magician of the Court by Grand Duke Aldolphe.

Until 1914, Beckerelli performed regularly at the Grand Ducal Court and at various cultural events in Luxembourg. At the end of 1914, he emigrated to St Gallen in Switzerland, where he continued his career with great success as an illusionist.

Rico Leitner, Swiss illusionist, will take a look at this mystical character that was Beckerelli, and his conjuring techniques. The conference will be followed by a reception. The conference will be held in German. Admission is free.
