The Euro Space Center in Transinne, Wallonia (Belgium), is hosting a new edition of "La Nuit des Étoiles" (Night of the Stars) on Thursday 14 August 2025 from 16:30.
The free event requires no reservations and marks the peak of the Perseid meteor shower.
From 16:30, the centre will briefly close to prepare for the evening programme, but visitors can already observe the Sun using specialised telescopes on the Place du Soleil and explore radio astronomy - a way of "listening" to the Sun through its radio waves.
The centre will reopen at 17:15, offering scientific and creative workshops for visitors aged four and up: spectroscope, 3D constellation, sky map, sundial, FM receiver, Mars base, plus a site-wide pulsar hunt.
Mythological tales will punctuate the evening and guided planetarium sessions will help visitors better understand the constellations and the wonders of the night sky.
Three public lectures by Belgian astronomy specialists are also scheduled: "Voyager dans l'espace avec LUNAR·X" (Travelling in Space with LUNAR·X) by André Füzfa (UNamur); "Les Aurores, une spécialité belge aussi ?" (Are the Auroras also a Belgian specialty?) by Gaël Cessateur (IASB); "À l'écoute des étoiles filantes avec le projet BRAMS" (Listening to shooting stars with the BRAMS project) by Hervé Lamy (IASB).
The evening also features live music on the Place du Soleil, astronomy clubs and guided observations, themed face painting and on-site catering at the Voyager Café.
Every year, more than 2,500 curious visitors, families and enthusiasts gather at the Euro Space Center for a night of discovery under the stars.
