Details:

The Upper Sûre Nature Park is organising its traditional Water Festival (Waasserfest) on Europe Day, Friday 9 May 2025, from 10:00 to 17:00, at Tadler Mill (Toodlermillen, Goesdorf).

The element of water is the main theme of the Upper Sûre Nature Park: the reservoir provides a large number of Luxembourg households with drinking water. During the Water Festival, visitors can participate in many activities and later watch the "exciting" raft race on the Sûre river. Throughout the day, children can build mini-rafts on-site, which will then compete in the raft race. Several prizes await the winners, such as a children's birthday party at the Hanshaff educational farm, tickets to a puppet festival and a solar-powered boat ride. Admission is free.

The festival promises a varied and free programme for the whole family, starting at 10:00 on Friday. In addition to workshops, activities and information stands, water tastings and various guided tours will be offered.

The Water Festival also offers the opportunity to discover the Hanshaff in Bockholtz. A tractor will transport visitors directly to the farm, where children can actively participate in feeding the animals. Guided tours of the Hanshaff are taking place at 10:00 (fully booked), 13:00 and 14:30. As the number of participants is limited, registration is recommended via the online form at naturpark-sure.lu. Water tastings with Dr Rachel Reckinger are scheduled to take place at 14:45 and 15:45. In addition, tours of the Heiderscheidergrund wastewater treatment plant will take place at 10:45 and 13:15 in Luxembourgish and German. Again, as the number of participants is limited, online registration is recommended.

The organisers have recommended that visitors use public transport to reach the Toodlermillen campsite. A shuttle bus service takes visitors from Goebelsmuhle train station to Toodlermillen. Some parking spots are also available on-site.

The Upper Sûre Nature Park added that it is focusing on a particularly sustainable approach for its Water Festival. When selling food and drinks on-site, particular attention will be paid to the use of regional, organic and/or fair-trade products. Price lists will inform visitors about the products that have been processed. To minimise waste, food and drinks will be served exclusively in reusable containers. Free drinking water is available on-site. To ensure proper waste separation, clearly marked bins, including ashtrays, are available on the event site.
