Details:

This year's European Microfinance Award (EMA) ceremony is taking place on Thursday 13 November 2025, as part of European Microfinance Week (EMW) 2025.

The award is organised by the Luxembourg-based European Microfinance Platform (e-MFP), the Inclusive Finance Network (InFiNe) and the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, Defence, Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade.

This year's award is dedicated to the theme of “Building Resilience through Inclusive Insurance”; it is open to applications from financial institutions and organisations worldwide that enable low-income and vulnerable people to build resilience and manage risk through inclusive and effective insurance.

This year, the event organisers have joined forces with the Microinsurance Network to leverage their knowledge of this topic and benefit from an expert point of view.

The EMA offers prestigious annual prizes of €100,000 for the winner and €10,000 for the two runners-up who highlight initiatives that provide effective risk management tools to underserved communities.

Founded in 2005, the award recognises excellence in inclusive finance initiatives. It focuses each year on a different theme to highlight critical areas such as climate change resilience, technology in financial inclusion and women’s empowerment. The award aims to serve two parallel goals: rewarding excellence and collecting and disseminating relevant practices for replication.
