Details: The 3rd annual Meeting of Nations (Rencontre des nations) is being held this Sunday 18 June at the Stade Boy Kihnen in Cessange.
The event, labelled as a big party for the whole family, takes place between 08:00 and 20:00 and focuses on sports and cultural exchanges. It is organised by the Ville de Luxembourg in collaboration with Optin and CLEA, reflecting the desire of the City to promote integration through sport and culture of multiple nationalities across the city and beyond.
63 teams have entered the football tournament and 10 for the beach soccer tournament for children (10-12 years) and adolescents (13-17 years). Thus, places for just 7 teams remain: Registration may be done in the morning of the event.
Each team will consist of up to four players of the same nationality. This year, players from 58 different countries will participate in the meeting of nations, compared with 38 nationalities represented in 2012.
The football tournament is open to men and women from 17 years old and is played with teams of six players, a goalkeeper and a reserve player. The group matches will last 10 minutes each, the final for 20 minutes.
Various activities for the whole family will be organised throughout the day: sports workshops, educational workshops for children from 3 years, games for children and adults, a giant slide, music and dance communities present ...
In addition, 22 food stalls of different nationalities, sheltered by a large tent, will allow athletes, artists and spectators to share and discover the culinary specialties of different countries.
Information booths will be provided by the Advisory Committee on integration Luxembourg City, Sports Services, Service Integration and specific needs as well as Representation of the European Commission in Luxembourg.
A shuttle service will be provided from the P+R Bouillon with departures every 15 minutes to the Stade Boy Konen in Cessange from 08:00 to 21:00 on the day.
Entry to the event and participation in the various workshops and events is free of charge.
