Details: The 2013 Fete de Velo will take place on Sunday 30 June 2013 with an event being organised on the Place de la Constitution between 11:00 and 18:00 that day, organised by the Ville de Luxembourg.
The opening will be officiated at 11:30 by Luxembourg city mayor, Xavier Bettel, and Luxembourg's Minister of Infrastructure and Sustainable Development, Claude Wiseler, the Ambassador of Denmark, Louise Bang Jespersen, and the Ambassador of The Netherlands, Peter W. Kok.
As in previous years, the Festival will focus on the fun and entertaining side of cycling, while educating the public about the ecological and efficient way to travel. More than 40 exhibitors will present different types of bicycles, from mountain biking to cycle races and e-bikes, and will give visitors the opportunity to try two wheels around a test circuit.
Exhibitors will include "Lëtzebuerger Vëlosinitiativ" (LVI), the association "Vélos en ville", the Luxembourg City Tourist Office (LCTO), the National Tourist Office, Instruction on road safety, the Mobilitéitszentral, Ministry of Sports, the Royal Danish Embassy and the Embassy of The Netherlands.
In addition, the Festival offers entertainment for all tastes and all ages including a biketrial show by World Champion Thierry Klinkenberg, skybike, demonstrations by Luxembourg Bike-Polo "FUX", an opportunity to try unicycles with Zaltimbanq circus school, bicycle orchestra (Marching and Cycling Band HHK), a circuit, guided bike tours, performances of "Che Circus & Theater", children's entertainment, live music, etc. ...
Cycle tours will also be organised by the Sports Services of the City of Luxembourg, supervised by qualified instructors of the "Sports for All" initiative. Those interested can register with the LCTO (email: guides@lcto.lu or tel: 4796-2709) until Friday 28 June 2013. Participants can either bring their own bicycle or can rent one through the LCTO via the "Bike City in association" in the Biisserwee in Luxembourg-Grund.
