On Saturday 23 November 2024, Artemysia Théâtre asbl will present "Hypatia, the Highest Note", in honour of International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, at Abbaye de Neumünster, Luxembourg-Grund (28 Rue Münster) at 20:00.
This theatrical performance, directed by Raffaella D'Angelo and written by Tommaso Urselli, explores the life of 4th century female philosopher Hypatia. The performance is described as "a captivating narrative that highlights Hypatia's relentless pursuit of knowledge and her resilience in the face of adversity" and "a vibrant tribute to critical thinking and tolerance, values that are essential in our contemporary world."
The timeless themes of knowledge, resilience and the fight against intolerance are explored in the performance that will be presented for the first time in Luxembourg in English. Translated by Diana Nunziante and Maggie Rose, as part of Orange Week 2024, it stars Joanna Bertrand as Hypatia while Ashton Laffineur portrays several key characters.
Orange Week takes place from 25 November 2024 (International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Girls and Women) to 10 December 2024. It is dedicated to fighting violence against women and aims to inspire change and promote gender equality.
