Details:
A new edition of the European Microfinance Week (EMW), hosted by the Luxembourg-based European Microfinance Platform (e-MFP), is taking place at Neumünster Abbey in Luxembourg-Grund from Wednesday 13 to Friday 15 November 2024.
For those who cannot attend this international event in person, a virtual hybrid experience with several online sessions will be available.
The EMW 2024 will feature more than 30 conference sessions (in English) across thematic streams such as digitalisation, client protection, green inclusive finance, investment and a particular emphasis on "Advancing Financial Inclusion for Refugees & Forcibly Displaced People", which is also the topic of the 2024 European Microfinance Award.
This is a €100,000 prize awarded by Luxembourg's Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, Defence, Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade, which this year highlights organisations active in financial inclusion that help forcibly displaced people build resilience, restore livelihoods and live with dignity in host communities.
In addition, more than 25 thematic workshops will allow for in-depth exploration of topics such as the outcomes and impacts of microfinance, access to basic services, women's financial inclusion and forest financing, among others. Three plenary sessions will complement this programme, addressing major issues such as the future of inclusive finance, the inclusion of refugees and forcibly displaced persons, and the opportunities offered by fintechs.
Last year's edition brought together 570 participants from 48 countries, with 250 people joining online.
