The Sprangprozessioun or Echternach Hopping Procession takes place every year on Whit Tuesday. Thousands of pilgrims and other visitors from Luxembourg and neighbouring countries gather in the abbey town of Echternach for its renowned hopping procession. Since 2010, the tradition has been listed on UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. The procession is preceded by a mass in the basilica.
