Salaried Employment Up 3.6% Over 1 Year

In its latest report, Luxembourg's statistics agency, STATEC, has confirmed that salaried employment continued to grow into the second quarter of 2022.

The number of salaried employees in Luxembourg grew by 0.8% in the second quarter of 2022 compared to the first quarter of 2022. Over one year, this represents an increase of 3.6%.

Specialised activities and support services were up 4.7% over one year, as well as administration and other public services which grew 3.9% over one year, were among the most dynamic branches during this period.

For specialised activities and support services, STATEC accounted this favourable development from the accounting activities and routine building cleaning services. Regarding administration and other public services, central administration recorded the most significant growth.

The number of cross-border workers increased (up 1.2% compared to the previous quarter) slightly more than that of residents (up 0.6%). Year-on-year, the number of non-European Union residents increased by up 14.7%, compared to 1.4% for Luxembourg residents.
