Luxembourg's Ministry of Social Security, together with the Ministry of Labour and Employment, have announced that the Observatory of Absenteeism from Work has updated its website (www.observatoire-absenteisme.public.lu)
In May 2011, the Observatory of Absenteeism from Work, a collaboration between CEPS/Instead, the General Inspectorate of Social Security (IGSS) and the High Level Group, made up of the Ministers of Social Security, Labour and Employment and the social partners, made available a series of indicators to private companies of more than 10 employees located in Luxembourg. These are meant to help such companies to establish a diagnosis of absenteeism and compare against other companies in their business sector to analyse the reasons and, if necessary, identify appropriate means to be implemented to reduce such absenteeism.
To follow the evolution of the phenomenon, a biannual data update is being performed. Soon the figures of the second half of 2012 will be added to those of previous semesters. Every company with more than 10 employees will soon receive access information to allow it navigate its private space on the obervarory's website.
So far, nearly one in four business has consulted the Observatory on Absenteeism. This figure is encouraging given the young age of the observatory; however, it must continue to grow, as is demonstrated by a growing interest in actions on the issue of absenteeism from work.
