On Monday 26 October 2015, the Agence pour le développement de l'emploi (ADEM) held it EURES Jobdating event at Domaine Thermal in Mondorf-les-Bains, as a means of linking employers with potential candidates.
EURES Jobdating was organised in collaboration with other public employment services in the Greater Region, such as Pôle Emploi Lorraine and the Forem Wallonie. The idea behind the event was to join employers with job seekers shortlisted by respective employment public services based on a principle of '15 Minutes'.
Nearly 800 appointments were fixed in advance for 300 shortlisted candidates, who had the opportunity to meet with several interested recruiters in one day. As in the case of last year, the 2015 edition, which attracted 31 companies, was focused on the catering industry and food retailing sector.
In keeping with the logic of pooling offers for employers, Pôle emploi also organised a recruitment session for an order picking position. The 'recruitment by simulation' method used disregards the resume and instead allows for the assessment of candidate's skills through practical exercises.
A dozen job seekers from Luxembourg, France and Belgium were given the opportunity to practice their skills in a simulated work environment, with subsequent positive assessments representing a major bonus for candidates in their later interviews. This Franco-Luxembourg border collaboration has borne fruit since 2014.
Those wishing to expand their field search beyond borders were also able to learn about living and working in neighbouring countries from the EURES advisors present during the event.
