As part of important works being carried out on the Howald tunnel, the the A1 motorway between the Gasperich crossing and the Hamm interchange will be closed in both directions from the evening of Friday 6 October 2017 until the following evening.

In connection with the realisation of full-scale works on the Howald tunnel by the fire and ambulance service of the Ville de Luxembourg and the fire and rescue service of the municipality of Hesperange, the above mentioned section of the A1 will be closed from 21:00 tomorrow until 19:00 on Saturday 7 October.

The Motorway and Bridges Administration will also use this time to carry out other work on the closed route, including maintenance of the Howald tunnel, the removal of high voltage cables by CREOS, the inspection of signaling portals and video masts and the repair of guardrails.

The following closures will be put in place during this period: the A1 motorway between the Gasperich crossing and the Hamm interchange in both directions; the access roads of the Gasperich crossing coming from the Gluck roundabout and the Franco-Luxembourg border of the A3 motorway; the access ramp of the Hamm interchange from the N2 and towards the Gasperich crossing on the A1 motorway.

Traffic from the A1 motorway between the Gasperich crossing and the Hamm interchange will consequently be diverted from the Gasperich crossing via the Gluck roundabout, the CR224, N50, N2 to the Hamm interchange in both directions.

With preparatory work being necessary for the closure of the motorway a few hours beforehand, traffic disruptions traffic are to be expected in the late afternoon on Friday with the main axis of the A1 closed from 21:00.
