
On Monday, the management company operating Frankfurt-Hahn airport held a press conference at the premises of the Ministry of Science, Education and Culture, in Mainz.
The meeting was expected to reveal the future plans for the airport, including addresses its viability, with Ryanair accounting for over three quarters of passenger flights to/from the airport and which will shortly be commencing flights to/from Luxembourg.
The main message coming out of the meeting was that the Frankfurt-Hahn airport has a long-term cooperation agreement with Ryanair. It is the tenth-largest passenger airport in Germany and remains an important hub for all travelers who want low-cost breaks to destinations throughout Europe.
The Frankfurt-Hahn airport is focusing its passenger business on stability and has signed a 5-year agreement with ith its customer Ryanair.
"We are pleased that we continue our long-standing partnership," said Markus Bunk, Ge-CEO at Frankfurt-Hahn Airport. Ryanair has been represented at the Airport since 1999 and since then has contributed massively to the development of the airline business. Today, Frankfurt-Hahn Airport carried almost 2.6 million passengers in 2015 to tenth place of 22 international airports in Germany. "Ryanair currently represents almost 80% of our passenger traffic," emphasised Bunk. "With the contract extension all holidaymakers can look forward to fly in the future to attractive targets in Spain, Italy or England," he added. In the current summer timetable vacationers can choose from 50 destinations at Hahn - 40 of which are offered by Ryanair. There are also flights via Wizz Air and the Sun Express airline.
