Dachser, the logistics group whose Luxembourg office in Grevenmacher employs 30 staff, has opened its own transportation agency in Turkey, with the new agency connected to Dachser's European groupage network via the Cargoplus organisation.

The team of Dachser Turkey Lojistik Hizmetleri A.S. will improve service for existing distribution and supply customers in Turkey while gradually organising their own transport for import and export with a connection to Dachser's European network. Intermodal logistics services, closely linked, will continue to offer great potential. Dachser is already present in Istanbul and Izmir with its Business Field Air & Sea Logistics.

"Turkey is an interesting market for logistics: its economy is developing rapidly, its population is young and growing at a rate above the European average," explained Wolfgang Reinel, Managing Director European Logistics North Central Europe, in charge of Dachser activities in Turkey. "In recent years, we have developed transportation in Turkey. Now the time has come to take the next step to allow our customers to enjoy the benefits of locally uniform Dachser IT systems - particularly its monitoring and traceability system for "tracking and tracing". In close collaboration with our organisation of air and sea freight, we would also target certain segments of Turkish expanding sectors - i.e. consumer goods, automotive and textile / fashion - by adopting an overall intermodal logistics strategy."

Dachser Turkey Road is led by Erkan Basak, experienced logistics manager. Aged 49, he has worked for almost 25 years with major international logistics providers. "We set ambitious growth targets and want to create in the medium term other agencies in the main industrial centres of Bursa, Izmir, Ankara and Mersin," said E. Basak.
