Cargolux Italia today announced the introduction of a second weekly flight between Milan and the cargo carrier's Chinese hub Zhengzhou in October.

New flight C8 877 follows the inauguration of first Cargolux Italia flight to the Chinese city in June earlier this year, and marked the first commercial Cargolux service to Russia. The new flight will again be routed via Novosibirsk, leaving Milan on Sunday mornings at 11:50.

Cargolux Italia's two weekend flights offer shippers a fast and convenient possibility for overseas transport of their weekday production. From Zhengzhou, shippers are then able to use Cargolux's trucking system to forward goods to other major Chinese markets. The flights support Cargolux Italia's Asian network, which includes the recent addition of two weekly flights between Milan Malpensa Airport and Japan.

The Italian branch of Luxembourg-based Cargolux provides the only direct air cargo connection between Milan, an established major industrial and commercial centre in Northern Italy, and Zhengzhou, which is fast becoming a worldwide cargo airport and an important gateway to China. Commodities transported along this route include Italian fashion goods, machinery and mechanical spare parts.

"With our second service from Milan, Cargolux Italia and the Cargolux Group can significantly boost its presence in both markets," commented Pierandrea Galli, CEO and Accountable Manager of Cargolux Italia. "It also underlines Cargolux Italia status as the main all-cargo carrier at Malpensa and main supporter of our Italian customers".

Cargolux Italia is the main cargo carrier at Milan's Malpensa airport with a market share of 15%.
