The Municipality of Mamer, in collaboration with the NGO Fairtrade Lëtzebuerg and the European School Luxembourg II, recently inaugurated the exhibition "Fairtrade Cotton: A Story of Threads and Lives," a project aimed at raising awareness of issues related to the cotton and textile industry.

The exhibition is the result of a project initiated by the Fairtrade School Committee of the European School Luxembourg II, together with teacher Elisabetta Di Salvatore who participated in a study trip to India with Fairtrade Lëtzebuerg. During the trip she observed the impact of fair trade on cotton producers and workers in the production process. She subsequently shared her experience with the Fairtrade School Committee, thus inspiring students to create the exhibition, based on photos and testimonials taken during the study trip.

The exhibition forms part of the "Rethink Your Clothes" campaign implemented by the NGO Fairtrade Lëtzebuerg, on behalf of Luxembourg Cooperation. It is described as offering an immersion into the realities of textile production through several themes: the stages of cotton production, working conditions, environmental issues and the impact of Fairtrade, as well as highlighting how a simple Fairtrade consumer choice can transform lives and reduce the textile sector's ecological footprint.

"Fairtrade Cotton: A Story of Threads and Lives" is described as an invitation to rethink one’s relationship with fashion and to become aware of the issues behind one’s everyday clothes.

The exhibition is open to the public until Sunday 4 May 2025 in Mamer (Parc Brill:, 1 Place de l’Indépendance) and from Monday 5 May until Tuesday 10 June 2025 at the European School Luxembourg II, Mamer  (6 Rue Gaston Thorn).
