On Tuesday 28 January 2025, the inaugural edition of the Circle of Partners event took place at the House of Startups in Luxembourg-Bonnevoie.

The event, organised by Boost Lokal Lëtzebuerg, a project by CELL Asbl (Citizens for Ecological Learning and Living), focused on the financing of citizen-led local, social and environmental impact projects. CELL described the event as providing an essential platform for local projects to access support in order to facilitate the creation of positive change in their communities.

Over 40 participants, representing local initiatives and key players in project financing from around Luxembourg, attended the event. Their reported goal was to discover financing solutions tailored to the specific needs of local projects. This was achieved through speed-dating sessions between project leaders and financial partners.

Twelve projects pitched their ideas, covering a range of themes, from creating community cafés to tackling food waste. Citizen groups, non-profit associations (Asbl) and social impact businesses (SIS) were all represented.

Shainika Murthy, part of the Community Café group created through Boost Lokal Lëtzebuerg, said: “I got to pitch my idea, sharing the passion behind the café and its mission to create a welcoming, inclusive space for locals to connect and collaborate. What made it even more exciting was the chance to meet other social enterprises and their founders. There was such an inspiring energy in the room".

Participating partners included LEADER, Duerfentwécklung, the Œuvre Nationale, Interreg Grande Région, Microlux, Etika, Eticrowd, ORASI Advisory and Inpact. The event allowed those representing local projects to explore financial and support opportunities, while establishing personal connections with committed partners from both the public and private sectors.

CELL noted that the event generated a lot of enthusiasm among the participants and demonstrated the growing interest in local impact projects, as well as highlighting the importance of supporting collective solutions.

This event was organised as part of the Boost Lokal Lëtzebuerg programme, based on the Start-up de Territoire initiative in France. CELL added that events will be organised throughout Luxembourg, to support local initiatives, during the coming months.

From Friday 7 to Saturday 8 March 2025, the Weekend of Solutions will take place in Junglinster. This event is expected to showcase impactful community-based solutions from Luxembourg and around the world. Boost Lokal stated that it will continue bringing citizens together to identify local challenges, develop collective solutions and enable ecological and social transition, by supporting the creation and growth of impactful social projects.
