On Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 November, the Rotondes in Luxembourg-Bonnevoie will host the third edition of Game On, the event for gaming enthusiasts of all ages; this year the Luxembourg Centre for Contemporary and Digital History (C²DH) will showcase a selection of historical video games alongside a series of lectures and workshops as part of Forum Z.

Over the weekend, visitors of all ages will have the opportunity to play together. Game On, organised by Spillfabrik, Social Gaming Luxembourg, the Service Foyers scolaires (after-school childcare) CAPEL of the City of Luxembourg, in collaboration with IFEN, Luxembourg's National Youth Service (Service National de la Jeunesse - SNJ), the Luxembourg Centre for Contemporary and Digital History (C²DH), and Le Réservoir, are set to take over Rotondes for two activity-packed days. The afternoons of both Saturday and Sunday are dedicated to family-friendly games. However, on Saturday evening, participants will be able to partake in various tournaments and a pub quiz.

The event will offer a diverse range of board games and video games. This is an opportunity for those interested in discovering the latest releases such as Bistrospill 2023, meeting game authors and creators, participating in tournaments and workshops, or finding specific games in the second-hand market. Indie video games developed in Luxembourg and the Greater Region will also be available for testing on this occasion.

Visitors will also be able to explore information stands on various themes. This year, the work of conceptual artist Jeanne Landart, who is based in Montpellier, will be on display.

As part of the third edition of Game On, C²DH joined the event's organisers and BTS Game Programming and Game Design to create a programme of activities that explore the intersection between history and gaming. As part of Forum Z, which takes place on Saturday 4 November in the afternoon, a series of conferences will be held, featuring industry professionals, designers, academics and guest educators.

The programme includes a workshop, offered in both French and English, allowing participants to create a historical board game based on the Codex Aureus of Echternach. Additionally, there will be a virtual reality tour of the Notre-Dame de Paris cathedral, as it used to be before a structural fire broke out in the roof space in April 2019.

Furthermore, there will be an exhibition of historical video games that can be tested in the Great Hall of Rotondes, which will also be available on Sunday afternoon.

The third edition of Game On is a gaming marathon, taking place from 14:00 to midnight on Saturday and from 12:00 to 18:00 on Sunday. Entry and the majority of activities are free; however, pre-registration is required for the pub quiz, tournaments organised by Le Réservoir, and the Forum Z workshop.

The pub quiz on 4 November costs €5 per participant.
