On Thursday 25 August 2022, on the occasion of the Queens Day ("Journée des Reines") at the Schueberfouer, alderman at the City of Luembourg (Ville de Luxembourg - VdL), Patrick Goldschmidt, and the President of the National Federation of Fairground Traders (Fédération Nationale des Commerçants Forains - FNCF), Charles Hary, welcomed eleven queens and eighteen princesses to the fairground.

The local queens and princesses representing Luxembourg wine, the town of Wormeldange and the town of Wiltz, were joined by others, mainly from Germany, including Trier, Veldenz and Saarland.

Speaking to Chronicle.lu regarding the significance of Queens Day at Schueberfouer, Alderman Goldschmidt said "Of course it is important, as it part of Luxembourg culture and this brings additional people from various parts of the country to the Schueberfouer and promote their region, and also their wines". He added "At the Schueberfouer, it is not only a local fair but more of a regional fair. And therefore, everyone is welcome to take part".

Laurent Schwaller, head of the VdL Department of Public Spaces, Festivals and Markets, said "The Queens Day is a tradition since almost twenty years, where queens from Luxembourg, Germany and France join at the Schueberfouer and take a tour on the Schueberfouer to have a good moment and some publicity. Thats in fact the idea behind the Queens Day".

The queens and princesses, wearing impressive dresses and tiaras glistening in the sun, participated in rides and mingled with children and visitors of the fair.

Speaking to Chronicle.lu, the 71st Luxembourg wine queen (Lëtzebuerger Wäikinnigin), Lee, when asked about her favourite wine, said "I like every wine. Riesling is a common Luxembourgish wine but we also have Pinot gris, and I prefer the white wines". Wine queen Lee mentioned that she had been to Schueberfouer for four preceding years (excluding when it was cancelled due to COVID-19 restrictions) as princess and this year she is the Queen for the first time.

Luxembourg Forest queen (Bëschkinnigin), Joy, said "I am happy to be here, there are so many people and everyone is happy". Alecia, one of the princesses from Germany representing Saar-Ober-Mosel region, said "We are very honoured to be at the Schueberfouer and I am very happy to be here".

The wine queen from the neighbouring Trier (Trierer Weinkönigin) in Germany, Louisa, when asked about her favourite wine, said: "Obviously it is Riesling but also the Elbling, which is a common wine from Ober-Mosel and Luxembourg, which connects the two regions. So I have a heart for Elbling but Riesling is the wine to go. Always".

Corroborated by several wine queens and princesses during the tour of Schueberfouer and in between rides, Riesling was the most favoured wine amongst the wine queens and princesses.
