LUkraine asbl, a non-profit organisation representing the Ukrainian community in Luxembourg, has announced that it is organising another anti-war protest in Place de Clairefontaine in Luxembourg-Ville on Saturday 12 March 2022, from 14:00 to 17:00.
Since Russia's invasion of Ukraine on Thursday 24 February 2022, LUkraine asbl has been holding regular, authorised protests in Luxembourg City's centre. Last Saturday's demonstration brought together around 3,000 people wishing to voice their opposition to Russian military aggression against Ukraine.
Further details on this week's protest are available on the Facebook event page.
In addition to the protest planned for this Saturday afternoon, local activist Mark Kitchell is organising a protest outside Gazprombank Luxembourg, a branch of the private-owned Russian bank Gazprombank (GPB) on Friday 11 March 2022, from 11:00 to 13:00. Demonstrators will call on the Commission de Surveillance du Secteur Finance (CSSF), Luxembourg's financial regulator, and the Luxembourg Government to "proactively close this bank". According to the organiser, this demonstration "has a permit from the City of Luxembourg, will be 100% peaceful, and will fully cooperate with the Police Grand-Ducale".
