ACOLUX ASBL, the association of Congolese people in Luxembourg, has announced that it is organising a peaceful demonstration in support of peace in the Democratic Republic of the Congo on Saturday 8 February 2025, in Place Hamilius in Luxembourg-Ville, from 15:00 to 17:30.
The non-profit organisation recalled that war in the east of the Democratic Republic of the Congo has been going on for more than 30 years. UN reports have spoken of many deaths, as well as people being mutilated, displaced, raped... The Luxembourg-based non-profit lamented, however, that neither the duration of the war nor the millions of deaths or other atrocities, seem to move the international community. ACOLUX added: "It is our duty to show our solidarity and support for the populations unjustly affected by these conflicts".
The aim of this upcoming demonstration is thus to raise public awareness and promote peace and justice in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Members of the public are invtied to take part and show their support for this cause.
