Éimaischen Festival in Luxembourg City Cancelled

The City of Luxembourg (Ville de Luxembourg - VdL) has confirmed its decision to cancel this year's Éimaischen celebrations.

The Éimaischen markets are traditionally held every year on Easter Monday around the Fish Market and Grand Ducal Palace in the capital as well as in Nospelt, a village in southern Luxembourg. Last year, the event was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic; instead a digital celebration of this long-existing tradition was developed.

Éimaischen (this year on 5 April 2021) has fallen victim to the pandemic once again this year, at least in Luxembourg City. That being said, the municipal authorities of the capital have proposed that the traditional "Péckvillercher" clay birds be sold in shops.

Chronicle.lu is awaiting confirmation from the organisers in Nospelt as to whether or not this year's markets will go ahead there.
