On Friday, Luxembourg's Gilles Muller (seeded #23) lost to the 10th seed, 26 year-old Pablo Carreno Busta (ranked #11) from Spain, in the Men's Singles at the Australian Open tennis tournament currently being played in Melbourne.
Pablo Carreno Busta, who had earlier defeated France's 33 year-old Gilles Simon in the previous round, was too strong for Muller and won out 7-6, 4-6, 7-5, 7-5.
Despite a massive 40 aces from Muller, Carreno Busta, a semi-finalist at the US Open last year, won in three hours and 18 minutes in the sweltering Margaret Court Arena.
“It was really tough conditions to play today but I make my best,” Carreno Busta said. “I feel very comfortable on court now, I’m growing up and I’m very happy for this.”
Carreno Busta has now defeated Muller in their last three matches; however, Muller - a quarter-finalist at last year’s Wimbledon - did win the match at Melbourne Park in 2015.
