Saturday's crowd witnessed a heartbreaking loss for Luxembourg’s only player in her hometown tournament, Eleanor Molinaro.
She and her opponent, Belgian’s Yannia Wickmayer, stayed on serve in the first set of their sigles match to force the tiebreak. Yannia sped ahead to 6-0 before Eleanor managed to win her own 6 consecutive points to draw even at 6-6 before losing the next two points to give Yannia the set.
The Belgian prevailed in the 2nd set 6-3 to reach the 2nd round of qualifying.
