On Thursday 7 July 2016 at a press conference for the WTA BGL BNP PARIBAS LUXEMBOURG OPEN tennis championships held at the Grand Hôtel Alfa Luxembourg Mercure, the tournament organisers confirmd that this year's event will be held from 17-22 October, with Qualifying on 15-16 October, at the CK Sportcenter in Kockelscheuer.
The WTA Luxembourg Open organisers introduced the team, suppliers, sponsors, history of the tournament and related practical information. The much anticipated announcement of the evening concerned the next three players that have signed up to participate.
Joining the already announced Andrea Petkovic, will be the 2009 finalist Sabine Lisicki, the defending champion Misaki Doi and 2014 champion Annika Beck.
- 26-year old WTA No. 81 Sabine Lisicki holds 4 WTA titles and will make her 7th appearance;
- 25-year old WTA No. 49 Misaki Doi holds 1 WTA title and will make her 2nd appearance;
- 22-year old WTA No. 43 Annika Beck hold 2 WTA titles and will make her 6th appearance.
