On Friday 16 May 2025, the Government Information Technology Centre (CTIE) and the Luxembourg Inland Revenue (ACD) announced that more than 10,000 tax returns had been completed by taxpayers in only three weeks, via the MyGuichet.lu website
In a press release, the CTIE and the ACD stated that, since 7 April 2025, taxpayers have been able to complete and submit their tax returns via MyGuichet.lu.
In 2024, the 10,000 mark was reached after three months. At that time, PDF submissions exceeded those via the website.
According to the CTIE and the ACD there are many advantages to submitting tax returns online, namely:
- time saving: from the first login, certain boxes are pre-filled, such as name, address, children and, if applicable, salary and pension information. Thanks to pre-filling, less data needs to be entered on the next return, and in simple tax situations, taxpayers will receive their tax return within two weeks;
- reduced risk of error: some data comes directly from employers or public institutions;
- simplified verification: the taxpayer verifies the accuracy of the pre-filled information.
- administrative simplification: the website guides the taxpayer through filling in the fields corresponding to their tax situation;
- digital accessibility: online access allows for quick and secure management.
Taxpayers can find tutorials to help them complete their tax return in French, German and English at 123easy.lu and at Myguichet.lu.
In collaboration with the CTIE, the ACD has developed a questionnaire to gather the opinions and experiences of users of the website. The ACD stated that its goal is to make completing the tax return as simple as possible and improve the taxpayer experience.
