On Friday 17 December 2021, at the second day of the World Swimming Championships (25m lane) in Abu Dhabi, Luxembourg's mixed relay team set a new national record.

The FLNS quartet of Julien Henx, Max Mannes, Julie Meynen and Monique Olivier set a new national record in the 4x50m freestyle mixed relay, setting a time of 1:35.60, improving the old record set at the European Short Course Championships 2013 in Herning by 0.93 seconds. 

Julien Henx opened the race in 22.45 seconds, Max Mannes stepped up in 22.43 seconds, Julie Meynen kept the team on track in 25.15 seconds and Monique Olivier brought the relay in 11th out of 33 teams in 25.57 seconds.

The individual races of the Luxembourg swimmers did not go according to plan. Despite Max Mannes swimming faster in 1:47.61 than at the European Championships in Kazan at the beginning of he but missed his best time of 1:46.37 and finished 34th out of 69 swimmers.

Julie Meynen was also not satisfied with her performance in the 100m freestyle. After setting a time of 55.09 seconds, the sprinter posted 32nd out of 85 competitors, but missed her season best time (54.52) set at the EM in Kazan.
